We are Gideon and Callum, two college graduates looking to further our knowledge of sound implementation into games, bringing experience, techniques, and software from previous projects. We both share a love for music; one of us playing and modulating it, and the other more new to it beyond simply listening. While we both have extensive experience relating to DAWs specifically, we have different tastes and use cases. We both love experimenting with different types of sound and media, and look forward to doing more of it. We’re also both fascinated by spatialization, and are actively looking for opportunities to learn more about it.
Callum began playing classical guitar at a young age but made the switch from Tarrega to Iommi at the age of thirteen upon hearing the album Paranoid for the first time. Shortly thereafter, and thanks to a festival billing featuring both The Stranglers and Bruce Foxton, he picked up a bass before moving to London to study and work as a session musician for bands of genres ranging through funk, blues, progressive metal and psychedelic. After completing his degree at The Academy of Contemporary Music, Callum has gone through many roles including guitar tutor, booking agent for underground acts, composer and even a brief stint at Metropolis Studios (during which time he threw himself headfirst into music production). It was not until a pivotal conversation at a drag show that he realised the world of game audio would be a great opportunity to bring his love of composition for visual media, experimental composition, and alien sound crafting to an interactive medium, all while giving him an excuse to revel in his love of gaming. This led Callum to Leeds Beckett University to study Sound and Music for Interactive Games (MSc), where his love of crafting industrial soundscapes and exploring new music continue to evolve.
Outside of his studies, Callum is usually playing sea shanties with Frankie Heartless and The Heartless Rogues, continuing to tutor in guitar or breathing fire on the bank of the Thames.
Gideon has been in the editing and gaming space for many years, starting with the original Ipad games (Jetpack Joyride, Doodle Jump, etc) before graduating to more modern FPS and Roguelikes. He enrolled at Arizona State University originally as a Journalism major, but after realizing that he was better suited for the post-production side (and after having watched Arcane) he switched in film. He later graduated with a Bachelor's in Filmmaking and Media Production, as well as a minor in Japanese. This path led him to fall in love with all things post production, but especially sound design and music. This paired with his love for games has led him to study Sound and Music for Interactive Games, MSc, at Leeds Beckett University. He can usually be found playing Badminton, learning some new obscure software you've never heard of, or banging his head against his table playing a competitive shooter. He also listens to a wide variety of music, though Alt/Indie, metal and pop from around the world are his favorites.
